Hi I'm Ruth type 1 diabetic for 55 years and am still alive!! I'm on Libre sensor and reader 2.

My prob is this - my sensors only last one week. I constantly ring Abbott and they send me out a replacement but never tell me the reason. I always send back the dud! PLEASE HELP

Hi @Rutb can you elaborate on what problems you are having wit the Libre.
Is it falling off, is it failing to scan, do you get a failure message, etc?
You mention that you use the Reader rather than the LibreLink phone app. Is there a reason for this? When did you last update the Reader?

Apologies for bombarding you with all the questions but without understanding this, it is not possible to suggest fixes.

Abbott sent me a new reader a month ago .A picture appears on the reader showing the sensor with msg sensor needs replaced.i always adhere to instructions re.placing it on my arm.It never actually falls off. The sensor finishes prematurely almost every week, sometimes in a few days and Abbott never explains why! I do nothing differently from week to week. Help!

I'm still using Libre 2 units, as I was initially diagnosed type 1 - my experience is that they vary quite a lot.
Some will faithfully report on a constant basis for the whole 2 weeks.
Some will almost immediately lose contact with the app, and you have to keep scanning manually.
Most fall somewhere in the middle, usually well behaved for the first week, often not so much for the second.
My suspicion is that the hardware really isn't up to being used in continuous mode, but the good news is that even badly behaved units always 'hand over' the whole set of data up to that point when they get scanned.

The only thing you need to watch out for (depending on how well controlled you feel) is if you have a unit drop connection during the night. If you need to be sure that you are in range, and are liable for night-time hypos, and you need to trust the alarm.. you may need to swap out units more regularly than they are supposed to work for.

I have the same problem. Abbot is very good at sending a new one and never question is whihc makes me think they aren't very reliable. They told me if you wear a plaster it makes it sweat and won't work. But I find it catches without one (clearly the person who designed it didn't put a bra strap over their arm every day !).
Are any of the other brands any good?
