Type 1 Libre sensor 2

I don't use FSL very often but when I do I use an arm band to help ensure it stays on my arm - got my arm band on ebay.

Hi @Carl W ,

So far to date, I’ve never lost one. Been using them for over 3 years. First gen & the L2.
I normally fit mine after bathing. During a shower, I exfoliate the new area to place a new sensor. Then after drying clean the area with an alcohol wipe. Then allow to dry. (Quickened up with a hairdryer.) Then fit.

What you may find regarding hypos. Is the sensor may take half an hour longer to show a return to normal due to taking readings of interstitial & interpreting BG. Than your BG meter or even how you feel? (If hypo aware.)
Oddly, on a drop. The libre for me can give a heads up 5/10 minutes prior..

Always back up any errant readings with your meter. On the whole with a flat line, I find the sensor is within 0.6mmol of the meter.
But I do use an independently developed app giving me the “CGM experience” on my phone..

Here is a video showing what’s involved with fitting one.. Note, Abbott do not supply the alcohol wipe with the kit any more. (I get my own.)
Ignore the “lifestyle waffle” at the beginning then you get the picture..

Good luck!

Thank you for the information, why don’t you get your wipes on prescription, be a little easier that way I would of thought.
What app do you use?
Thanks again

I consider myself lucky to get the sensors on script..
the wipes are a box of around a hundred. Pretty cheap online.

The app i use is “Diabox.” Got widgets for the Home Screen & lock. Updates every five minutes, customisable alarms. Can be calibrated too. (But ion the whole, I personally have no issues with the reported discrepancies.)
& a host of other features, pending on your phone..? (I can split screen it with the sat nav? For an at a glance update. It could even speak your readings. But that would drive me batty every five minutes…

Get to grip with the basics first. Then, if there is a “is there anyway I could do this to fit in with my lifestyle?” Question.

Ask away..

Thanks, I also get my sensors on script, I meant why don’t you get the wipes on script? Can collect all in one go then, or do they not do them on script where you are? But again, thanks I’ll check the app out tomorrow. I was told to download the LibreLink app so I’ve just done that, I’ve got an iPhone 11 so should hopefully work on this ‍♂️
Thanks again though

And nope, no diabox for iPhone apparently

Quick question, sorry, is it best to use the scanner or your mobile phone, or doesn’t it matter?
As you've probably found by now, either works. They do the same thing, but there are a few things to note.

If you start a sensor with your phone, you can only use the phone to scan and alarms will also be on your phone.

If you start a sensor with the reader/scanner, you can use either your phone or your reader. Even if you scan with both, the alarms will only be on the reader. The scanner doesn't talk to your phone, so you'll need to scan with each device every 8 hours to get all the data.

I start sensors with my reader and scan with both the reader and my phone. Here's why:

I like the alarms on the reader better than the alarms on my phone. I have the sound turned off, but the vibration is much stronger and keeps vibrating until acknowledged.

I like the flexibility of scanning with the reader, especially outside on a walk when it's raining - the scanner fits in a small bag and I'd rather the reader get wet than my phone get wet.

The reader has a much stronger scanning range than my phone - my phone needs the Bluetooth antenna to be right against my sensor, but the reader just needs to be in the general area.

The battery on the reader lasts a lot longer than the battery on my phone. The reader also charges faster.

Starting sensors with my reader means I've got my phone as a backup. Starting with my phone means there's no backup and if something happened to my phone, I wouldn't be able to scan.

I like the reports better on my phone, but my endo syncs the data from my scanner at my appointments. I'm sure they would get the info from my phone if I only used the app, but I'm happy doing it this way.

Jumping in without reading any of the above and saying that I have used Elastoplast Strong fabric plasters, which suited my lifestyle. I have recently started using Hypafix as a parent in the NHS can 'hook me up' Both are highly recommended. But of course, we're all different and certain solutions will work for some but not others.

how would I know it was faulty? Would it come up saying there’s a fault or ?
Hi Carl, the first indication would be that your reader or your mobile would give you a message saying scan again, or this sensor could not be read, this sensor is faulty fit a new sensor, or something similar.

If you have a sensor fail, or fall off then you need to keep that sensor, along with the identity disc for that sensor. You can then complete the form below and Abbott will send you a prepaid envelope to return faulty item and send you new sensor free of charge.

They replaced 2 for me following a sensor failures, one stopped working and the new one I fitted fell off less than 24 hours later, leaving me without a sensor to use.

I hope I'm not breaking any forums rules by posting this link, and if it does break forum rules would admin kindly remove it please.
