Lichen planus anybody?

Hi, I have had lichen planus in my mouth for a few years now and it has decided to manifest itself in "other places", oh joy. I also have one nail affected by it. It is thought to be auto immune but not much is known about it.

Anybody else suffer with this?

Hi Ali

I had this on the side of my tongue and it was quite painful at times, depending on what I ate. Was referred to the Eastman Dental hospital who eventually arranged an allergy test which revealed a reaction to amalgam. I had my last amalgam filling replaced with a white one and it went away. They were surprised it resolved completely but pleased none the less. :D

Did it go away or just hide? I have it, diagnosed by the dentist, he said it can not be cured and will never go away completely. Mine has been ok since low carbing. Interesting about the filling though.
 
The Eastman said it had gone. They said it was unusual but not unheard of. I can now eat the stuff that used to set it off with no recurrence. Maybe it depends on what caused it in the first place?
 
I believe if it is amalgam related it should go once the fillings have been replaced. However, other versions can come and go to varying degrees often for years at a time.

Yes I have it on the side of my tongue too, citrus foods, spicy foods etc are not a good idea on a regular basis!

I may book myself I tithe dentists and have mine changed.....
