Really need some help have been trying to get life insurance cover that finding a dead end at every turn won't insure me because of my diabetes does anyone know a good company to get life insurance from thank you

AVIVA...........

I just got cover with them, through the insurance surgery though.........which is an online broker that can help diabetics get cover........

I didn't get critical illness cover but did get terminal illness cover........

its only cover for 85000 and works out about 30 quid a month.......:)

I got life insurance (for mortgage purposes) with a company called Phoenix Life, the premium was heavily loaded due to my type 1.

There have been a few threads on here on this topic, so it's worth doing a search.

Your profile doesn't give any clue which type of diabetes you have or any drug regime, which would almost certainly impact on your options.

I too went through the insurance surgery. Have to say they are very good at what they do. My IFA coudnt get me a quote but they did again no critical illness cover but I am £31 for 75000 cover. It goes alot on your hba1c over the past few months possibly why mine is higher than novorapidbois for less cover. The good thing was the girl i was dealing with said she would call back in a year or two, as i am on the list for the pump, so that if my hba1c has come down she will look for beter quotes

Hi All,
Sorry to add so late after original post, Ref critical illness, Does anyone know if this is possible as I have been trying now for years!! I only ask as what if I / a fellow diabetic would be diagnosed with a terminal / critical illness "non diabetes related" and couldn’t work etc etc pay bills, support family and so on? do we lose it all and end up on the streets or is there some kind of cover available to us excluding associated illnesses? I can’t see how a brain tumour could be linked to T1 or T2 ? as a husband and farther with sole income supporting our entire world in the event i couldn’t work we would all be in trouble...any thoughts, help, guidance would be appreciated

The problem with critical illness cover is both the wide range of conditions routinely offered these days, and the wide ranging potential impact of diabetes, for complications or crisis.

I spent a lot of time working with underwriters, actuary a and pricing analysts with one of the leading providers of protection, and as you would imagine, their "intelligence" on competitors products was well advanced. To be fair, in balance, that work finished a couple of years ago now, but unless they feel polar.y different about T1 in particular, I think you're up against it.

If you have CI cover before diagnosis, hold on to it, as a real priority. Being accepted after diagnosis is a whole different ball game.

Sadly, some things just won't be available for some groups. I'm afraid the underwriters manage their books for Commercial, competitive and profit, not altruism, and as businesses, I think that has to be understandable, if frustrating.
