Hi,

me and my wife have recently had a mortgage accepted and i'm now looking for life insurance to cover this if anything were to happen.

Which companies do you guys use for life insurance to cover mortgage payments?

Being a type 1 diabetic i'm expecting a bit of a sting.

the sting may be in more than the cost..

it may be in the exclusions.. they would exclude anything that causes death as a result of a pre-existing condition

the trouble is.. almost everything apart from accidental death will be tied back to diabetes in 1 way or another

it will be even worse for you if you have high cholesterol/blood pressure too!

so you may get insurance but ensure you read the t's & C's

Everything seems against us at the minute with purchasing a property.

Unfortunately I think it's one of them things where I have to have life insurance for the mortgage.

In the uk a normal life insurance policy would not exclude pre existing conditions.

the best route is to go through a broker who specialises in medical conditions. Lifesearch is a large broker which does this (I have no personal connection to them). Or look for a website called unbiased.co.uk which has lists of independent advisers.

If your diabetes is well controlled with few complications you should be able to get cover, although you will need to pay an additional premium.

No you don’t you only need it to protect the others in the house

But you do not need it for the mortgage you only need buildings and contents

Hi
Check your pension if you snuff it whilst in service as i have always relied on that as back in the day life insurance was ridiculously expensive.
I,m 56 and 50 years a type 1 in good shape and hba1c of 39.
With all the advancements in tech recently theres no reason to think your life expectancy is shortened.

The future is bright...

I wish you well

Tony

I presume you mean mortgage protection insurance. My husband and I took this out many years ago. I had to have a medical before being insured but it all went well. I can't remember who paid for the medical (done privately in our local health centre). I presume it was us who paid.
The best thing to do is shop around.
