Life insurance with type1

Hiya, not sure I'm posting under the right topic
Hopefully getting a mortgage soon but just been looking at life insurance and seems to be seriously expensive as a T1. Does anyone have any go to's or recommendations for us T1's to get a decent deal or a company that specialises.

Cheers D

I do remember going for a bank loan years ago , the guy was obviously trying to sell life insurance also , I told him I was type 1 diabetic the reaction I got was like I peed on his kids , needless to say I never got life insurance , he did tell me diabetes was a “” no no “ with regard life insurance , I didn’t mind as I was covered by work at the time , these days I’ve just taken out some over 50s life cover to help with funeral expenses ,

I got mine as T2 through a broker called the Insurance Surgery a few years back. The reason I went with them was that they spent time with me going through all the medical stuff and were very patient with all my questions. It is not cheap, though, like taking out a second mortgage. The insurance policy is with L&G.

I used to work for a large life insurance company. Life insurance will always be more expensive for people with diabetes But it is available. The best way to find out what is available is to use a broker which specialises in people with medical conditions. Lifesearch are one big firm who do this (note I have no connection personally with them).
