A normal family living a normal life then bang! I was 13 when my 15yr old sister was diagnosed type1, it didn’t really affect me at the time, just remember the tears and mood swings. Now fast forward 35 years and my sister is 50 and still going strong. 4 years ago her daughter, my niece was diagnosed type1 at 15! Yes history was repeating itself! This happened a few months after the death of my Mum which hit us all very hard. My niece has struggled a little to come to terms with type 1 and I have tried to be as supportive as I can be since her Nan passed away. Then 3 weeks ago bang! I was diagnosed type2, now it’s nothing compared to my sister and niece but by god does it change everything. I suppose it’s only really now that I realise what my parents and sister went through and again my sister is dealing with all this and a divorce. I suppose it makes us stronger in some way. Good luck with it everyone, it isn’t the end of the road even though it’s a s@@t
