Around 10 days ago I was in despair! I knew my weight was approaching my highest ever. I felt miserable, didn't dare to jump on the scales, nor even use the blood pressure monitor. The throbbing in my neck, fuzzy head and eyesight scared me.
I woke up 'brave', and without giving myself time to think I climbed on the bathroom scales, and was pleasantly surprised I'd missed my all-time-record by just 1kg.
The blood pressure monitor was a fright. Over a half a dozen readings; the highest reading was 198/107 (pulse 81), and the lowest reading was 182/104 (pulse 80). No matter how many readings I did, the **** thing wouldn't 'lie' to me! I gave up when I realised the tips of my fingers were getting too red!
I booked a doctor's phone consultation. Later that day my GP phoned (it's well over 10 years since I'd spoken to a GP) who advised a full fasting blood test to try and see what's going on.
What a difference 10 days later....
I'm working on dropping my net carbs (using fatsecret.co.uk to analyse my food)
Monday - 120 net carbs
Tuesday - 88
Wednesday - 63
Thursday - 71
Friday - 30
The aim is to get those net carbs under 20!
This morning scales have shown a loss of 3kg (I know most of that is fluid)
But the most important is my BP, the highest reading this morning is 164/102 (64 pulse) and the lowest 135/82 (61 pulse).
At 8PM last evening my BG was 6.1, at 10PM just before going to bed my BG had shot up to 11.3..... that's what consuming '6 innocent' plump cherries did to me.
This morning my BG is down again to 5.7 - The 'official' fasting blood test had my BG at 7... so once again I feel I'm making progress.
There's a huge amount to learn, but I just wanted to share that I'm so pleased I stopped burying my head!
