I think what you are experiencing is called postural hpyotension and it is actually associated with diabetes, here is a link, there are lots of pages with information about this if you look on google, you probably have been diabetic some time before your diagnosis.

http://www.bpassoc.org.uk/BloodPressureandyou/Yourbody/Lowbloodpressure
Most people with a blood pressure of 90/60 mmHg or lower won’t experience any unusual symptoms or require any form of treatment. However a small number of people with low blood pressure may experience symptoms such as:
light-headedness / dizziness
nausea
blurred vision
general feeling of weakness
feeling confused
a temporary loss of consciousness (fainting)
These symptoms may only occur when you stand up, change position quickly from lying down to sitting up or after periods of inactivity or exertion. This kind of low blood pressure is called ‘postural hypotension’. This is what Karen mentioned.
I suffered from this and still do if I'm not careful when standing up. My BP is always around 110/70 when tested so is very good but when standing up or even bending down I have passed out once or twice. Fortunately I wasn't hurt but there is always the possibility that I could be.
See your Gp as it is also something that could be caused by medication or other things and it should not be ignored.
The cause needs investigation and there are treatments for it.
Ken.
