Treatment type
Tablets (oral)
After trying with the Metformin and the SR version, I just couldn't tolerate them. The diarrhea was too much everyday. The doctor has given me Linagliptin, once a day instead of twice a day as with the Metformin.

I've read the side effects and scared myself so I thought I'd ask if anyone on here takes this medication? It apparently doesn't upset the stomach, which is a bonus.

I am on another gliptins and I have had no side effects just good results with mine. I hope they work for you as they have for me!

Thanks Nosher, makes me feel less apprehensive. You read the side effects and freak out..well I do. Fingers crossed they work for me as they have you. Much appreciated :)

Was suppose to be on metformen extended release for the past 7 years but in truth I stopped taking it over a year ago because I couldn't handle the side effects from it nor the job impact it was having (cost me employment).

Look it up on Wikipedia! It will give you the science and let you understand the way it works. Then you can ask other questions especially to your medical team.

Sorry to hear that. I was Googling to see if the side effects were bad for others and some of them, like you, had tried for years but they couldn't adjust to it. I hope the Linagliptin works for me now. I wonder if the doctors could change your medication to see what happens?

Never thought of that, thank you. I had a chat with my doctor about it and he thought it was worth a try but he didn't have time to go into depth about it. I'll try Wikipedia.
