Hi Guys,

Im new to the pump (picked up yesterday) and although things are not disasterous I was wondering if this seems right to you all experienced folk? I Have a CGM attached to an Animas btw. So I was doing fine until about 12pm today when bloods started rising. ok I thought, very low carb lunch anyway plus correction - no problem. bloods went from 9/10 ish to 14/15 for the best part of 2.5 hours. Im disapointed because my aim is to keep them under 14 (ideally under 10 but like I said I'm new).

I tested regually on a meter too and added 2 or 3 corrections the largest being 1.75U after which it started creeping down (currently 13 and steady)

I was hoping to wait before messing with basal for a day or two so things could settle down.

Hi bit late with this have you managed to sort things out or are you still having some problems? It could be all manner of things but will be easier to figure out once your basal is suited to what you need. How accurate are you finding the CGM and how comfy is it to wear? 4 weeks till I get mine!!

Yeah now I'm getting the hang. CGM is amazing honestly can't explain how good it is. Comfort a* and I'm on week two of the same sensor. Accuracy is fairly close if it starts getting way out stop and restart (takes two hours to get going) yesterday it was within 0.1 m/mol today it's about 1. So variable but still good. Sticky is very good and has lasted showers (no sport tho) let me know how you get on :)

Awesome can't wait to get my screen like that it's just blank at the mo. have you managed to get some sort of basal rate together yet? or are you finding it tricky?

Ive got a flat rate 0.525 at the mo and I want to change it. I'm hovering around 8-14 most of the time and think a slightly higher basal would help esp in the morning. I feel like ive just been left to it as my DSN has gone on holiday and the replacement refuses to discuss the vibe as 'she doesnt know it!'

Hoping next week will be better.

Hi sorry battery died when I tried to reply before,
If you've had the training and feel confident I wouldn't wait for your DSN to start setting up your basal rate from a flat profile. Slowly and gradually is the key though, especially as you are coming from having a high HbA1c. You can experiment first if you like by using temp basal up or down by 5-10% or go straight into adjusting the basal settings. Don't forget to keep a diary of where and how much you have adjusted your basal so you can see how your doing. Also don't forget that your basal will have a lag as a rough guide it's 1-2 hrs, for example if you want your bg to be lower between 2-6 pm you would increase your basal from 12-1pm to 4-5pm. I would slowly bring the basal up and leave it a few days between each tweak, take chunks of the day to tweak at a time then move on to the next chunk. Let us know if you get stuck with anything.
