Hello everyone! This is my first post, i have a question, so ive not actually be diagnosed with diabetes but for the last 6 months or so ive been feeling awful! My mum is a nurse and says my behaviour and symptoms can relate to being diabetic, this is how i feel on a day to day basis-
-so so thirsty, dry mouth
-constanly urinating (down to me drinking so much
-very blurred vision, almost feel drunk
-tired alot of the time.
There is other things but this is what happens alot, so my question is what do you think i should do? I tested my sugar levels about 9pm a few days ago and it was 23mmol? (My mum has a kit) Ive tried eating healthy, ive tried doing all sorts but i cant get myself to feel ok. Thanks for reading! :) x

hi and welcome,
theres definately something going on, if you feel ill plz seek medical help from a&e tonight as if type 1 you could get ill rather quick(dont mean to scare you) and if not plz seek help first thing tomorrow,
i expect we will be seeing you again soon as that blood measurement is high:)

Hello! Thanks for the welcome and answering! I will make an appointment tomorrow, the only thing that puts me off doctors is that they dont seem to always take you seriously and just brush it away as if you're fine. I will keep you updated to see what happens, how long can i be expected to wait for test results? X

If you feel that then go to a&e as they can get you sorted out faster this is dangerously high bg levels, you need a diagnosis fast, can you use your mums meter now?

When first diagnosed i popped along to lloyds chemist and did a test after feeling so ill, they said they were sure i was diabetic and sent a letter over to my g.p instantly, i was then supposed to have a glucose tolerant test a week later(they thought type 2) i got iller and iller as the week went on and went to hospital where i was was diagnosed as type 1 and was very ill with dka, so diagnosis doesnt take long and with bloods that high they will take u seriously

i would see someone tomorrow if possible as if type 1 it wouldnt have come down so possible type 2,in the meantime if it gets alot higher and u feel very ill please seek medical help:)

You don't need to go to a&e now but you need to go to the doctors, if you have plenty of strips test just before you eat and then 2 hours after food, how are you feeling at the moment?

Oh ok! I'll definitely make an appointment tomorrow, thanks for the help. I feel drunk in my eyes still and constantly thirsty, some days the way i feel makes me want to cry because i cant get a grip of it. I feel odd all day everyday but the way i feel can vary from hour to hour. I feel rubbish! X

Ok you need to be really insistent for an emergency appointment, this sounds like the surgery I go to its a joke!! You could always ring your local hospital and see if they have got a diabetes centre and try talking to them

If I were you I would phone back and say you have to be seen today and will come in and just wait until a doc can fit you in (hopefully you could do that). I was diagnosed t2 5 weeks ago and my symptoms were very like yours. My doc had my Hb result back in 2 days and I started medication next day. Already feeling much better.

Welcome to the forum. I've found it invaluable.

I hope you manage to see a doc soon. Take care

Cath
