If i do my blood sugar 2 hours after my evening meal and only have a cup of coffee with semi skimmed milk before bed, are there any other reasons for my blood sugars to be higher every morning? Normally 7 to 8 mmol/l 2 hours after dinner about a rise of 1 to 1.5 mmol/l from before dinner. and 9 to 10 mmol/l in the morning. Not currently using any medication and only 20 grams of carbs per day.

I had this to start with and many of us do. Typically it's called Dawn Phenomenon. Your liver and adrenal glands dump a bit of cortisol, and glucose to help you get ready to wake up for the day ahead.

It should settle down and for me supplementing Low Carb with intermittent fasting helped clear my liver of the stored glucose called glycogen - we store the equivalent of about 2000 cal worth of energy in this form.

Good luck on your journey:)
