i had a liver dump at 5.7 ,
shouldnt my reading have been lower before the liver dumped ? i only had a boiled egg for breakfast ,dumped at 12.15pm 5.7 on meter ,at 1 pm i was 6.6
how can i get my liver to stop making so much glucose ? im on max dose metformin and trajenta for diabetes

I wouldn't say that's a significant rise to even be thinking about liver dumps etc.......

my definition of a liver dump is a response to a low blood sugar, as opposed to the normal release of glucose from the liver....

it might just be that your liver is producing more at that time......

you also have to consider the error margin in a blood glucose meter, the 5.7 and 6.6 are very close..........

if I was testing my basal with those readings there would be no adjustment......

all is well shane.........:)

as a diabetic, not really............you should obviously aim for these numbers, but a reading of 6.6 is within the recommended target of 4 - 7..........

there's no need to worry about the liver action though........

some people on pumps and some not actually find that eggs and the like affect their BG, so its possible the egg increased your levels, but even more likely it was just your meters margin of error........

I did some tests on this. I am now of the opinion that the liver does not have a secret store of glucose that it dumps at convenient times. It justs gets carbs that are in the gut.

We all worry about the last meal we had and its effect on our blood sugars but we forget that we may still have last nights meal in our gut. I believe that the liver might plunder that.

I came to this conclusion after low carb-ing for a couple of days and saw my morning readings get lower and lower as old meals progressed to wherever they go. I repeated this test a number of times (6 or 7) and it worked every time.

Mostly what I did was to not eat carbs in the evening.

A few days ago I had wine and snacks in the evening and I know this makes my morning readings rise. I do not take morning readings any more but I still take the +2 hours after breakfast ones. After my debauchery of a few days ago and breakfast followed by morning walks my breakfast +2 readings are.

09/02/2014 7.4
10/02/2014 5.9
11/02/2014 4.5
12/02/2014 4.3
This is the seventh time I have done this. I must give up debauchery it isn't doing me much good.
