Living abroad with type 1

Can anyone give me info on prescriptions for type 1 in France or Spain and how they compare with provision here? I'm concerned that I may not receive the amount of testing strips I get through each month: normally around 180 p/m. Thank you for any advice, however, I will stress that I will not enter into discussion about the amount I use. Suffice to say I've been type 1 since age 19 and had it for 46 years with no side affects. I'm convinced this is due to constant management, and not sure I would get the same support in France or Spain.

Congratulations on that @barsx , long may that continue (the no side effects, not the T1 :)) you need to be held up as an example of what can be achieved by good control:).

I'm in France and get prescribed 6 strips a day .The pharmacie interprets that as 1 tub of 50 per week. I get excellent support from my doctors but one has to be proactive. It's up to you to make sure that you get appointments for prescription renewals They won't chase you up.
( As aT1 your GP may refer you to a diabetolgue for ongoing care. They may suggest one but you can make your own choice, I rarely see my GP, my specialist does all my prescriptions for medication, blood tests etc and reminds me to get appointments with eye specialist every year and cardiac specialists every two years))

Many thanks all for the information. I'm glad to know you can get 6 strips per day.
