Kimchi from a Asian / Korean shop is good as well.Maybe try sauerkraut if you like pickled cabbage
Guys, I want to have some salad in the fridge that lasts for at least a week. I like plum tomatoes and they last a week. I would also like some diced white/red cabbage with a sour taste. Is there anything like this available? Like pickled one, but without the sugars that most pickled things come with? Also, can you suggest me other long life salad? Onions ofcourse are a good one. Anything else that I could consider? Those precut salads in a bag, I think only last a couple of days? Do they are not convenient.
Google the phrase "salad in a jar." They last for a week apparently if they are layered correctly.Guys, I want to have some salad in the fridge that lasts for at least a week. Agree with all of this, but avacados, while being nice and good for us, do go off very quickly when peeled or cut, so again, only prepare on the day of use. Also avacados can 'turn' very quickly, so can have a short shelf life if bought already ripened. Aldi do a pak of 'ripen at home' avacados at a resonable price, and these will last up to a week, but guaging when they are at their use on date can be problematic.I only buying salad stuff for myself, and find it does keep for a week in the salad chiller shelf in my fridge.
Apart from the suggestions above, i would add avocadoes.
I tend to buy ripe ones and then put them in the fridge.. seems to stop them turning so quickly and I have had them for up to a week with no brown gunge...Agree with all of this, but avacados, while being nice and good for us, do go off very quickly when peeled or cut, so again, only prepare on the day of use.
