I think she meant more that she felt fine and healthy and didn't look like what she thought someone would look like suffering any of those serious illnesses? (I kind of understand what she means, I thought my eyesight was great (apart from being longsighted) until a letter landed in the door saying I'd proliferative retinopathy and needed laser - it was a major shock.)
gezzathorpe said:I hope the treatment benefitted you. I have 'survived' 4 annual retinopathy checks so far which is why I am so interested in evidence of damage caused by temporary, mealtime spiking, as I'm not going to sit on my laurels (they're still intact too!).

The vision in my right eye has deteriorated since the two sessions on it. But it's all about preserving the central field of vision, which the specialist says I would def have lost in under a year without treatment. Going for my first session on my left eye tomorrow.

Didn't hear him mention it in the programme, but I already was aware he's T2 diabetic.
gezzathorpe said:Well, I hope all goes well tomorrow. Are you able to slow down or halt further deterioration? I know you have said your right eye has got worse so I would imagine you are doing everything you could do yourself.

Thanks.
The worsening of my eyesight is actually caused by the laser treatment itself. In order to save the central vision they have to laser parts around it which may (and in my case, has) effect peripheral vision and night vision. Unusually it has also had an effect on my depth perception as well. Though the negative effects are slowly diminishing so I'm hopeful!

If so why not?

She was the girl with both parents T2 diabetic, am I right?
I really couldn't understand why they didn't check her for diabetes either. Perhaps she refused? I dunno.
