Hi everyone!
I'm so happy to find this forum! Anyway, hello! I'm Zoe, I've been T1 for almost 19 years now. I got the flu when I was 10 years old, and ended up with diabetes.
I was on injections for 17 years (and I was old school too - I refused to use a pen & insisted on syringes - crazy woman!). But in December 2014 I got a pump which has completely changed my life!
I swear, my consultant used to DREAD seeing me at my appointments - I truly was his nightmare patient: never kept a track of my BMs (when I actually did them). just guessed at how much insulin I should be taking & generally didn't give two thoughts to my condition. Then, about 3 years ago, a switch seemed to go in my head & that light bulb finally came on. You know, the one that stops you being a selfish person on a self destruct mission, and actually look after myself.
So then when I got my pump, wow, I mean, my life completely changed! My blood sugars started to become NORMAL, I didn't feel so ****** all the time, I didn't have to worry about my dosage as much because the pump works out how much I need in relation to how many carbs I eat.
In short, my HbA1c has come down drastically & hope to get it down some more
Anyway, bit of a ramble, sorry about that! I look forward to using the forum! xx
