there were some wee indicators I was developing diabetes, but I can only see the difference now I'm a tiny bit more "educated".
Most noticeable is the profuse sweating. During any hot weather I always felt drenched, but today was a hot day here in Glasgow and yes I felt warm but not like I did before. No dripping face or damp hair.
Also there were times I thought my lips tasted sweet, even though I hadn't actually eaten anything sweet.
Also the dreadful overwhelming tiredness has gone. Yes I do feel pooped some days but not like the constant dragging I felt before.
Course could just be that 2 stone I've lost.....
Does anyone else feel wiser after the fact?
If I could have changed a lot of things particularly diet. But like everyone else, they were given the 'recommended diets' that were making me worse.
I was feeding my illness, and I couldn't understand it!
All the signs were there, but my GPs didn't have a clue.
I still recall quite clearly the few weeks/months leading up to my diagnosis...and how terrible I felt...completely lifeless, thirsty and tired. I also recall the new lease of life I felt a few weeks/months after when my bloods had stabilised...positive and in control with boundless amounts of energy. Oh how I wish I still felt that way...

As you said if we were better educated we could pick up on the signs ourselves, I felt like s..t for 18 months before the doc picked up on it , we must try to educate more people me thinks but how ??
