Apparently they already used it to administer insulin. So maybe an alternative for pumps as well?

It was slightly contradictory in that it was one-use for drug delivery, but also said that it was used in neo-natal monitoring

I've just seen it on BBC news, and it does look like a once-only thing with analaysis based on absorbtion, then removal and lab analysis in a GC or similar.
