Losing faith

Right , got the phone call and it’s no regards being given a testing kit , told if I was on medication then they could give me one , got the impression when she started going on that she was calling me a failure to be honest , seems because I hit a reading of 66mmoa couple of years ago I am not managing things and should go on metformin , saying it has given people wonderful results , as my title says , losing faith , she disagreed with what the consultant said on top of things , so back to my own devices.

sorry to hear that not prescibed testing kit. such a back to front attitude imo.

Very surprised nurse disagreeing with consultant. I thought order would be specialist consultant > dsn > gp > nurse. i would likely let the consultant know that the nurse disagreed with them especiall

post #44 on this thread has @Rachox list https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/losing-faith.210821/page-3#post-2786834

theres a few cheaper ones on amazon at the moment still with 'black friday sale prices' could be worthwhile checking that out. would still take advantage of the free trial cgm's regardless :)

good luck

She said that a lot of doctors who specialise in other areas get it wrong , he specialises in the pancreas , but seems she knows better , I could tell him , but I do not think it would be of any use .

One other thing she said was that having a toasted tea cake and a cappuccino was bad and would really make my levels spike .
30.0g carbs in a single warbutons toasted teacake. raisins are very high in net carbs ~75g per 100g weight.

have you tried make your own teacakes if its something you enjoy that gives greater control over sugar content? https://www.myketokitchen.com/keto-recipes/keto-cinnamon-tea-cake/ is pretty nice. i put in muffin moulds could throw in a few cranberries relatively lowcarb or could add a handful of fresh raspberries/blackberries/strawberries. (cook for extra minute or so if adding). could also use mix few raisins with the other berries so would be less carbs that get turned into sugars than the normal shop bought ones.

dairy products have natural sugars lactose. could swap milk for likes of (unsweetened) almond milk (if like the taste of almonds) which contains a little less around 100ml almond milk is ~1.5g vs milk ~5g to reduce a little bit would give it a slightly nutty taste.

curious if you've been offered an education course if not could ask for dietician (which can be a hit or a miss. some appear to like highish carbs - such as mac n cheese... / wholemeal rice etc). a wee look through the sucess stories of the forum alongside recipe area's you might find useful.

Well , she just said that if I go out to a cafe and have what we are talking about , then it is very bad for me , yet having looked online it says that while not the best , so long as you do not have things like honey or such in your coffee it’s all ok , I will point out that this is the same nurse that told me prawns not good , then told me after a asked why , the answer was because people put Marie Rose sauce on them as I have mentioned before , that was 15 years ago she said that , I have had more info from people like yourself and help than I have ever had at my doctors , regards courses , I did at the very beginning attend Desmond , which I found interesting , but was very short course and a long time ago , I will continue to look in this site or ask questions in future and see how things work out when I get my reading , she did admit that age does not help.
