Hello,

I was diagnosed type 1 in May (7 weeks ago). Before that, I was used to train and play water polo at very high level (professional). But I was hospitalised and passed all the education. Right now I am in "honeymoon period" and I don't use any insuline (both Lantus and Apidra). Two weeks ago I started to traing again in full tempo (that include usually 2-3 trainings daily , most often 2 inside the pool and 1 in gym). After starting I always got in the hypos and I increased number of crabs everyday but it didn't help. Also I lost more than 4 kg in that two weeks. I talked with my doctor and he said that it's too much. I know that I have lots of activities because my one avarage training include more than 3 miles of swimming. Right now i ate before training about 100 g of carbs and it's not enough because I almost always got in the hypo and I am losing weight. I don't know what to do. I am not sure if I incrase amount of carbs will that negatively affect on my blood glucose ? I really need advices because last thing I want to do is to reduce my practice.

So you don't use any insulin? Yet you mention 2 insulins, so is that what you may have to use?
And you are still going hypo without insulin?
Are you testing yourself pre exercise-if so what are your levels?

This doesn't make any sense, you are getting hypos without using insulin? Are you measuring your blood glucose at all?

Insulin is a major hormone for retaining fat stores and promoting muscle protein synthesis but without knowing how many carbs you have per day and the amount of insulin you use its hard to gather whats going wrong. Though my first suggestion would be to lower the amount of long acting insulin you take significantly if you want to keep up your training regiment, that is if you are using any at all.
