Diagnosed on 6th October. First things first: draw a line in the sand - instantly stopped chocolate, white bread, rice, pasta, biscuits, alcohol and squash and most fruit and quite a few vegetables. I totally believe in using the Glycemic Index - the lower the better and no treats for achieving goals.
Lost: 20 lbs so far - in one month - not too bad.
Found: Today I am in the office wearing a shirt that I grew out off back in 2010.
Looking forward to loosing another 20 lbs over the next month and it will be the right pounds. 30+ years of weightlifting and learning about nutrition will get me through this, but don't ask why I ended up with Type 2 if I have this knowledge. Well actually, do ask: people with a drink problem often know they have a problem and only decide to do something about it when its too late. That's me and food! I should have recognised this at least three years ago when I started stress eating. Now I've got this but I think I can beat it.
Target: Loose 8 stone, get back into shape, eat clean - wear old clothes - I kept everything - that's why I'm wearing a shirt with a very dated pattern, but it fits again and that's what's important. You will know I've reached my target when I get out the 'Frankie Says' tee shirt.
