Hi there
I'm going to Frankfurt in an hour and only have my Lantus pen etc with me.
Should I go to a public hospital there? As I've brought my EHIC card
Or could I use my Lantus as a double long acting one?

Got everything bar my humalog.

Is there a chemist at the airport? They may be able to give you an emergency prescription. You should really be careful and ensure you take all the right insulin with you and at least twice as much as you think you need. Take care

I agree with @Ann1982 and would recommend trying to get replacement as soon as possible.
I suggest avoiding eating any carbs until you have a method of giving yourself some fast acting insulin.

The diabetes.co.uk website has an amazing library of diabetes reference material as well as this forum.
Before taking any future trips, I recommend having a read of the Diabetes and Travel pages: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/travel.html

Hi @LouRosy ,

Welcome to the forum.

It's not advisable to take extra basal to cover any carbs consumed. You may find it will act as a ticket to a "roller coaster" you can't get off..

You could try using your UK repeat prescription & obtaining the humalog once in Germany?
Can't say I've ever tried it. you may get charged for the meds..

Please let us know how you got on..

I've been in a similar situation where I have dropped and smashed my only cartridge. I was able to get another from a pharmacy but I showed them a repeat prescription slip and had to pay (it was about £35 for 1 cartridge of Novo rapid).
