Noting in passing that when I was first diagnosed i already held SC clearance and there was no hint that diabetes might affect my clearance.
So I don't think it is a Security issue as such; more likely related to duties to be performed and the risk of a hypo compromising them.
I can see that one could put together a scenario where you were rushed to A&E with a hypo leaving Secret documents on your desk unsecured but this really is clutching at straws because there would be standard procedures to cover sudden illness.
Smack of a jobsworth somewhere.
