Hi
had a very hectic day/week and numbers not been great
went to bed last night on a 6.8 canula came off during the night and woke up on 20.5, changed canula as soon as i got up, gave 4 units, hour later it was 19.3, 1 hour & 20 mins after that- 17.8, gave another 3 units-15.4 another hour & half after that ( quite actively busy all this time) at 12.50 it was 3.6 could feel I was low, treated that, then at 1.35pm was 5.3 (ideal)then 4.8 at 3pm had nothing to eat during this time, at 5.50pm it was 25!! seems to be rocketing up for no apparent reason!
Have got a bit of trouble with hormones at the moment, had contraceptive implant removed, then 1 put back it, periods still all over place, was on for 18 days at 1 point, had implant removed 5 weeks ago, still not right, having blood test done on Wednesday, feeling tired alot & not got the energy I should have
My other half wonders if when i'm so BUSY (active) is working against me ie numbers going up
Any thoughts/advice?

I went through a similar thing last August / September and it lasted about 2-3 weeks. Nothing particular found by GP/hospital and they tested for lots and we tried changing insulin, new sites and canulas. During this time I had to test a heck of a lot more and most days I had to put a temporary basal on (got as high as 180%) - have you tried a temp basal? My DSN put it down to hormones or some underlying virus but I never got to the bottom of it. I still have unpredictable sugars at times and I do have to put it down to periods/hormones. My temporary basal gets good use on my pump - it's a pain though as I can't fully rely on when it's going to be needed so testing is key. Sorry no other specific advice. Are you testing for ketones? Mine were 1.6 when this was at its worst so taking action was essential. Frustrating when things like this happen particularly if it follows a period of stability and you think everything is sorted!

Was your pump saying to give the extra doses? Or did you bolus more because you felt it wasnt coming down fast enough?

For me it would have very little point really in testing 1 hour later... My insulin peaks activity between 1.5-2hrs later.. So I think you prob caused a bit of needless anxiety on the 1st test after new cannula.

Your levels are meant to come down to your target by 5 hours.... But this will also depend what you have set up as offset time and acting time as well..

Did you wash hands before your nect high reading? Just that once I didnt and must have had some sort of food on them.. My levels read 20.. Bolusd .. And crashed spectacularly...i hope this wont happen to you.

I too in early days on a differentt set would have them come out in night.. And levels do go up hugely when this happens...
