My great-granddaughter Lottie had her check up at the local Gate Way this week and she weighed in at a healthy 18 pounds. When mum and baby came round for a visit Lottie was handed to me and I was surprised that after a few minutes she was feeling quite heavy in my arms and I had to pass her back to mum. What's that got to do with Diabetes you may ask, well I'll tell you.
I was diagnosed as Diabetic in July 2014 with a HbA1c of 48 and my level moved up and down over the years depending on how much effort I put in. My review in January this year showed a HbA1c of 62 which, although not massive, for some reason spurred me on to take control over this beast once and for all. With lots of reading and YouTube videos and this excellent web site I feel I have a much better understanding of how Diabetes works and how it can be tamed.
LCHF and intermittent fasting has worked for me and I have managed to shed 70 pounds over the last 12 months which I find absolutely amazing after years and years of following the completely wrong information given by the 'experts' and my latest HbA1c last month was 36, which again I find amazing.
Oh yes I was telling you about Lottie. She weighed in at 18 pounds and I told you that I was struggling to carry her for a few minutes, Well I have shed the equivalent of almost FOUR Lottie's. That like having one Lottie on my left arm, one Lottie on my right arm, one Lottie on a piggy back and one Lottie sat on my shoulders. Now if that's not an incentive for me to keep the weight off then I don't know what is.
