Low blood sugar and seizures

Hi all,
Just wanted to hear some other people’s experience when it comes to low blood sugars and seizures.
Back story- I have been diabetic for 26 years and when I was younger I had seizures (when low in the night) but I was a bit sluggish for a day but was soon back to normal.
Fast forward- on Monday I ended up briefly coming around to 2 paramedics and a plate of toast. My heart rate went up, and all I know about it is I was talking to family and when they come back I was on the floor, I have some bruises and bit my tongue badly from the convulsions and I have a long period of time where I cant remember anything and even forgot simple things like what was the name of one of my pets.
However since Monday I have been super tired but I attempted to go into work and let them know I felt weird but it was hard to explain in what way. I’m still having issues remembering things and some conversations I only remember little bits of, has anyone else had this where the side effects of the seizure have lasted this long?

probably 20 years ago since I had such a bad nocturnal hypo that you have experienced but I must have had probably 20 in my 51 years and they were bloody awful , I would wake up with my wife giving me glucose and not even knowing who she was , blood coming from my mouth after biting my tongue and then suffering ulcers for a week after, my head would feel like my brain was banging against my skull , every muscle in my body would ache for a week or more and on one occasion I dislocated my shoulder which never fully recovered and recently had a shoulder replacement to cure the injury , it would take a week before I felt anywhere near normal but went to work when looking back should not have done , I hate to think of the long term damage I may have done to myself and with the latest tech with alarms to wake me I hope I never will ever go there again .

I am so sorry to read this.
Last time i had a low blood glucose that serious was decades ago, in the days before Libre or Dexcom sensors. I do find that even going down to 2.5 or 3 can impair my memory for at some 24 hours.
Do you not hear your sensor alarms?

As yet I haven’t had a seizure during a low but have read it can happen. Mine are absence seizures . They don’t last long and can be missed easily.

Its no fun. Had lots of seizures 'in the old days' before looping, the last one was the reason I needed better control and started down the tech path to get it.

With me, it was usually due to some thing I'd done (over injected, done too much work / exercise and not eaten enough, got stressed and run down).

Memory usually returns over time (though some stuff in short term memory can be gone forever). I'd be 'confused' and heavy for several days.

What actually happens - the body goes into sever hypoglycaemia - the liver dumps its stored glucose into the bloodstream and you come round (fell awful but at least you're back and awake). Over the next 24 hours the liver drags its 'safety glucose' back in, and you can find you go lower than expected (so need to eat more to supply the demand). The liver can only do this once in ever 24 hours though - a second outage can be much more serious. There are injections available on prescription called 'Glucagon' which is a hormone that forces the liver to dump its glucose - handy if someone can inject you during an episode.

Hope you recover ok - I always did, though sometimes in odd places or doing odd stuff (once woke up decorating the bathroom - and hadn't planned to)....
