Type 1
Hi i have had type 1 for about 3/4 weeks now, it was a huge shock to say the least.for some reason my levels keep dropping as to where I'm having 2/3 hypos some days. I don't know if this is because of what I'm eating, or the times I'm eating, or because I'm eating the wrong things or even snacking on the wrong things.Any advice given would be gratefully accepted, I'm on novor and lantus, thanks again

Hi There @AngelinaTompkin
welcome to the forum !! :)

as you are only recently diagnosed your care team will have given you some "recommended guidelines"( or suggested doses) to follow as you get used to your diagnosis.

My first 2 pieces of advice would be

1 -- be kind to yourself and try to take things really slowly ( tough to do when you're living it )
2 - talk to your DSN ( diabetic nurse ) every day as often as you need -- that is what they get paid to do -- and as a newly diagnosed patient you are bound to be feeling vulnerable.( they can assist with some adjustments as required )

in addition -- you have done a fabulous job in finding us here -- there are many sensible T1's that can offer support and some guidance as you make your way in the D world

keep posting
all the best !!

Don't worry about it, i started off like this, 7 months ago!! You can eat whatever as long as insulin covers it. Just make sure you check your levels often, if possible every 2 hours, then once through the night. I know this is a pain, but is exactly what i had to do at 3am every day for about 3 months, and then again a couple of months later for a few weeks. Also keep in contact with your DSN. As i am only 17, and in paediatric, my nurse rang me every day to speak to me and see what was going on. I also went to clinic every week for the first 6 weeks and slowly it got pushed back. It is now every 10 weeks.
