Pre diabetic or glucose intolerant.May I ask what exactly you mean when you say "impaired glucose"?
That's not so great.. sounds like too many carbs..Ok so had a bit of a big meal and blood went from 4.4 to 8.7 after 2 hours
Depends on what you/they ate but they probably shouldn't go that high from such a good level pre prandial. If a non diabetic ate the same would they also have a high reading or would their reading be lower?
Ok well the bun and chips were obviously not good... next time just try 3 burger patties and ditch the rest?Unfortunately it was burger and chip shop chips.
Thank you. I have been tackling my diet, although you wouldn't think after tonight's dinner. I have a binge eating disorders which means I consume a huge amount of food, hence the reading tonight. I have been ok for a week but had a wobble. Tomorrow is another day. This is just my personal opinion. A reading in the 4s is not low. Metformin is highly unlikely to make you hypo (it does not work on a meal by meal basis). Your A1c is not ambiguous, a result of 59 is well within range for the diagnosis of T2. And your reading in light of this evenings dinner clearly shows that you have a problem metabolising carbohydrates at that level.
I think it is time to consider a change of diet and to at least try to accept the diagnosis.
Again in my personal opinion, there is little to no difference between Pre Diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes both signify a level of insulin resistance, only the levels differ.
