Hi all....just a quickie. My T2 diabetes is usually really well controlled, but yesterday I had a bit of a blip. I couldn't get my BM to rise above 5. My first blood test was 3.6, but I didn't get any hypo warnings, then most of the day it was reading between 4.4 and 5. I've just been diagnosed with anaemia...would that have any effects? My appetite isn't that good, but this hasn't happened before. Any advice would be appreciated....thanks.

Having anaemia can impact tests, but from what I read it tends to give too high a reading - I suggest you talk to your Diabetic team about this.

I know it threw my HbA1c timing out as megaloblastic anaemia means the less effective red cells hang around for longer.

If you're not on any blood glucose lower medication (no, metformin is not one) then 4-5 is perfectly fine, you don't need to be above 5 and nothing to worry about, and many non-diabetics will be in the higher side of the 3's at times any way.

Not sure what tablets you are on though
