Hi Folks
I've started on a low carb diet two days ago.
The effects on my Blood Sugar are incredible. From 15.9 two days ago (admittidly after a high carb meal, but taken with Metformin) to 5.1 today. My BG has not been 5.1 for years!!!
The problem is that I feel really ****. I feel very spaced out and exhausted. I don't think can be 'Low carb flu' yet (or can it? :? )
Is this usual? Are there any of curing it?
I've got to try and get on with some work

When you start out on a low carb diet your blood sugars do drop quite fast.

This causes your body to think that you are 'hypoing' this is a false hypo. Once you are at a lower level on a regular basis then you will feel better.

Hi Debs

I've been doing this for a whole week now :) For the first 3 days I was hungry, but that soon passes, for the last couple of days I've had a splitting headache which I can't touch with painkillers. I've done some googling and I think it is low carb flu/ false hypos. Our bodies are just so used to living on carbs that now we are going into withdrawal. Apparently it passes though, and the change in blood sugars is completely worth it in my opinion!

Good luck
Jo

Thanks for your help.
I'm feeling a bit better this evening, but I have felt really groggy and haven't managed to get any work done :(
At least I know that I'm doing something right then.
I'll carry on regardless
