Low carb and if- blood sugar raising before lunch?

Hello everyone
I’ve been doing low carb (40g net, sometimes more sometimes less) and 16:4 IF for about a month. My blood sugars have greatly reduced in this time and I’ve lost around 5kilos. In three weeks my bm was averaging around 5-6 am, lunch and evening.
However this week I had a slight cold and noticed that whereas my bm has been steady around 5 in the morning, it raised to 7-8 before lunch despite me (clean) fasting. It then drops to around 4 by 3pm, and back to 5 or so by the evening after my evening meal. Is it higher because I had a cold, or is it my body getting rid of stored glucose in my liver? It’s not excessively high but wondered why this has started happening and I’m new to all this low carb / IF lark.
Cheers!

Illness is a common cause of a rise in blood glucose levels. Part of the immune response in everyone is more glucose for energy to fight disease/infection. Perhaps not so useful in type 2 ……
