I would like to know is the low carb diet just for type 2 diabetics or is it OK for type 1 I have been diabetic for 30 years but when I go for check up I am one of the best control blood sugars. But I have one of the worst diet's. I want to lose weight but love my brown bread and wheaten and weetabix not a great fan of vegetables or fruit but would eat some.I am up for making changes and would appreciate some healthy options for every meal time and snacks. Thank.

I'll tag @robert72 into your thread as he follows a LCHF diet and has excellent bg control.

hi @dex44lego9

It's OK for Type 1s to do low carb as long as you keep your blood sugars in normal range. I started by reducing carbs over several months so that I could get used to what I could replace them with - and it was easier to see how my insulin requirements changed along the way. Have a look at the 'What have you eaten today' low carbing threads for some meal ideas.

I am type 1 and very low carb. Be careful as your insulin needs will lower as well. Error on the side of caution and go slow. As Robert said I did it over a few months and watched my insulin reactions an adjusted accordingly. I have very good control.
