Hi Sandra

I don't know of any low carb breakfast items, but I eat porridge every morning with skimmed milk and a tiny bit of fruit sugar. It doesn't seem to spike my levels, but I do exercise 45 minutes - 1 hour after eating. I find that even if I eat it at 5.45 am, I don't need to eat again until 12 noon. It's great stuff :D

Bacon and eggs, omelette with ham, cheese, peppers, mushrooms or any combination. Scrambled egg. Greek yogurt with any kind of berry's or a mixture of berry's. Loads of good healthy low carb breakfasts, you can have a couple of boiled eggs cooked the night before with tomato's and salad things. Remember protein fills you and keeps you feeling satisfied longer. TPO's idea of sugar free jelly is what I have as a snack some evenings, with a glug of single cream.

Hi Sandra

I;m pretty much same as Defren

Combination of:
Eggs - 1 or 2 depending how hungry I am
Bacon
Mushroom
Tomatoes
Ham

If I'm pushed for time couple of slices of ham with philli spread inbetween, making a ham and philli sandwich lol, or I roll them up and slice them, I might even put them on a plate before eating (sometimes).

Breakfast is without doubt the hardest meal of the day.

Hi Sandra

I've recently been having some smoked mackarel fillets from Asda. 1 or 2 from the pack in a microwave for 60 seconds is a quick and tasty breakfast or lunch (of course, you do need to like fish !)

From the pack

Typical values Per 100g
Energy 293kcal
Protein 20.0g
Carbohydrate 0.1g
of which sugars 0.1g

Just shows how we are all different, if I eat porridge I am hungry again an hour later and it sets off cravings. There are loads of low carb brekkies, a lot mentioned above (especially well done Defren, great ideas from someone who is quite new to this!)
Also...
cold meat, I spread mine with mayo with a little mustard mixed into it
any left overs (cauli or swede mash fried with eggs on top for eg.)
Rhubarb with sprinkling of ground almonds and/or ground flaxseed with a glug of cream(specially good if you suffer with constipation)this also makes a good pud, reminds me a bit of cold crumble
or if you're short of time Atkins cereal bar (only about 2 or 3 carbs) with a glass of soya or lactofree milk, maybe flavoured with sugarfree Crusha
Ham and cheese slices sandwiched together with mayo
new one I've just tried, bacon crispy fried, spread with mashed avacado
coffee made with cream and a lump of coconut oil melted into it (remember fat keeps you full)
protein shake mixed with soya or lactofree milk and a glug of cream is a quick one too
One minute "muffin" made with ground flaxseed in the microwave (found on You Tube) can be made into a bacon sarnie

Just a few ideas, hope it helps

Nothing beats Wheatabix! I have spent the last ten years trying to find a cereal that doesn't send my blood sugar sky-high, and it is now the only thing I eat at breakfast - you're supposed to eat 2 but i go with 1 and it keeps me relatively full until lunch. :)

Take care,

Sophs
