Hi does anyone know any low carb dips(homemade) that I can dip my celery sticks in ,celery can get a bit boring after a while ?

Full fat Mayo flavoured with anything you like - garlic chilli, small amount of curry paste, full fat cream cheese, some people eat humus but be careful as it has carbs and it's one of the things I can't cope with. Peanut butter, mashed avocado, sour cream with chives - be careful with shop bought as they often have sugar added.

I used to have Yoghurt with Hot mango chutney as a low fat dip. Need to watch the sugar content of the chutney but there are lower sugar products on the market.

What about Greek Yogurt with some fresh herbs, lemon juice and salt & pepper, it would go well with celery/carrot sticks

Tuna Dip.

Take a medium tin of tuna, a small pack of Philadelphia, squirt of lemon juice, salt pepper and a spoonful of low salad cream or mayo, mix in a blender, I detest Tuna but can eat a bowl of this and it's low carb. It will keep several days in the fridge

I make nice smoky/tangy one mixing 2 parts sour cream, 1 part mayo, a squeeze of fresh lime & some finely chopped chipotle in adobe. Thinned with a bit more lime juice than usual it also makes a really good coleslaw dressing.

Very best of luck with that. I have been looking into what to eat/what not to eat over the past month. Started on slimming world and lost very little with weight yoyoing. Do not think it helps my type2 diabetes either although I am told Doctors currently recommend this group. Looked at this site and others in the last 2 to 3 days and am left foggy brained with too much differing information. I now believe I am NOT to eat wheat (breads of any shade, cereals, bicuits etc), milk, some Legumes yes some not, but God knows which. No fruit, some fruit, any fruit spelt ending fruit! Cheese is a no. Fill my face with Mayo, eat no Mayo. Fish yes but only some fish Meat yes but not processed nor fatty, nor red, white or blue. Nuts yes, but only one per year so I am saving that for Christmas, and definitely I will not mash it into a peanut butter type paste God forbid I should try to eke it out a little. Veg yes but only certain types. I hate veg more than my kids, but recently found a liking for some one of which is carrots only to today read they are BAD for my diabetes. I assume I am only to eat the green stringy tree type veg that makes me gag (now an accepted method of informing me if a food item is good for me). Potatoes seem to float on an hourly basis between evil, and good. As for carbs I am now totally lost as to what one is, where to find it or not, and if it is a good or nasty little devil of a carb which may be turned into something else by the way it is harvested, cooked, looked at, stroked or spoken to. All of the above, and more I have gleened from many experts giving advice on many sites. My decision is to go and open, finish, and enjoy a bottle of wine whilst watching a good film. By the way wine has been put through the mill also by the conflicting advice of experts and the common man/women.

I guarantee all will become clear, but don't expect it to happen overnight, but whatever you do don't let it rule your like

If you are newly diagnosed the usual information is:buy a meter and strips, test everything you eat and you will find which foods you, personally can tolerate, everyone is different and reacts differently to most foods. Your BG levels should remain between 4.5 and 8.5 test before your first bite and again two hours later and if you are in the above figures you are ok to eat that food in limited amounts. Cut out bread pasta potatoes and rice as they are the main carb culprits. Instead of cereal for breakfast try eggs bacon 97% meat sausages mushrooms. It will fill you up and is carb free, all cereals contain sugar. It's the carb content you have to watch, I have followed the eating patterns on the forum, lost two stone and have kept it off without much effort for eighteen months. A glass of red wine I believe is good for you but not a bottle full, the real secret to losing weight is cut the carbs and test test test
PS cheese is good as are nuts and you are rights carbs do turn into nasties....carbohydrate which in turn turns into glucose
