Low Carb Gravy

Hi snowballnc700, I posed this very question not so long ago and didn't get many replies but Giverney (Mod) did put me on to Kallo organic beef, chicken and veg stock cubes which are very low carb, much lower than Oxo and sold in every supermarket although I had never noticed them before. I mix them with a little boiling water and the add a little Guanthum gum to thicken, Be careful not to add too much or it will be yuk. I also like Knorr Touch of Taste concentrated liquid stock.

The flour that I use to thicken is called Guanthum gum (just google it) and is to be found in the "Free from" aisle, I believe this is carb free and don't use much just the tip of a spoon and then see how it goes. If you add too much it will go all gooey. Apart from this you could thicken with pureed veg but normal plain flour is out because of the high carb count. Of course I take it that you would use the juices from the meat when cooked. Quite often now-a-days I just add butter to meals instead of bothering with gravy if I have no meat juices
