Fellow Aussies .... I can't seem to find a FF Greek Yogurt in Australia that has less than 7g of fat per 100g. So I am eating Aldi's FF organic plain yogurt for around 6g carb per 100g. It seems in UK the Greek FF Yogurts don't have much carbs at all??

@jack412, @Mike D

there should be several at the supermarket, I often get these two, depending what's on special, sometimes the boutique hf yogurts
jalna 10 fat 6 carb/100 $5/kg
farmers union 9.7 fat 6.9 carb/100 $6/kg

if you have real trouble, it's cheaper to make your own with milk and cream and it isn't hard. tastes better too [could be mind over matter]

Thanks guys ... seems the Barambah Plain Yogurt would be good, I can get it at my local health shop. Unfortunately I heard the Chobani is a GMO product so I'll be giving it a wide berth.

I get the impression the stuff they get in UK is lower in carbs ... or is it just me?

TBH there is nothing I'd get from that article list.

you can make over 10% fat at $2 a kg

I was thinking a while back I might get a yogurt maker and make it myself..... used to have one and it churned out some good stuff.

From the link I sent you,

Chobani Plain

251kJ / 10.2g protein / 4.2g carbs / 3.8g sugars / 0g fat / 114mg calcium

With just a couple of ingredients, almost 0 sugars and 10+g of protein per 100g, you cannot go wrong with the US’s No 1 yoghurt. Despite recent media reports, Chobani is manufactured here in Australia which means Chobani is non-GMO according to Standard 1.5.2 of the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code. The only issue is that its strong flavour often sees individuals adding sugar (which kind of defeats the purpose) so to keep the positive nutritional attributes, use vanilla or cinnamon to sweeten instead.

"Chobani is manufactured here in Australia which means Chobani is non-GMO ........"

Maybe but I prefer to eat organic where possible so I will get the Barambah ... I've had it before, I like it and it's lower in carbs than most. Also will have a go at making some myself.

I make my own by boiling milk in a pan.
Cooling it to finger warm or around 35c.
Stir in a spoonful of live yoghurt ... gently don't want lots of air.
Bottle in whatever you have leaving half an inch space on top bung in warm place for twenty hours .... airing cupboard in this house.
Go back 24 hrs later you have youghurt.
Full fat milk is best and a spoonful of dried milk powder dissolve in it before bottling ensures you can stand a spoon up in it.

So simple .... boil it cool it add live yoghurt and powdered milk bottle it store in dark warm place.
The powder can be left out.

But .... this week I came across thick full fat live Greek in Lidle for .... £1.25 a litre!
Cheapest I've ever seen.
Nice it is too.

Milbona Greek Style Yogurt, I think its on offer at the moment and usually sell for around £1.40p....... which is still a good price for a 1 litre tub and not seen one cheaper anywhere else.

Even at £1.40 it's dead cheap like you say.
I've got a cup full in front of me right now with coconut oil creamed coconut a little honey all melted together in the micro and then mixed in the yoghurt and some crushed nuts sprinkled in.
And very nice it is too after my steamed veg dripping in butter and my steamed cod dripping in butter!

Three and a half I think.

Close enough Jack: my full fat Total Greek yoghurt is 3.8g carbs per 100g weight; it's zero fat matey is 4g.
