Hi can someone please tell me if its ok to do the low carb hight fat even if you have high cholesterol ? and still loose weight ? :?

In a word, according to what seems like a growing number of us on this forum, yes !

Check out these links

Restricting carbs is said to be the best way of improving your lipid profile, and dietary cholesterol is not linked to blood cholesterol. No time to write more at mo.

Read through your posts and would just say don't worry about the diabetes - it's easily controllable. Just worry about taking it all in - I'm sure you're feeling overwhelmed !

thanks geoff , yes totally overwhelmed at the moment so much to take in reading the low carb forums at the mo and thinking about buying a meter although my nurse has told me not too test but i have more faith in this site to be honest im sure ill get my head round it eventually :D

Definitely go ahead and get that meter. Watch out for strip prices. Many use Ebay to obtain more cheaply.
The uselessness of self-testing (in which the NHS usually believes) is confined to those who don't take an active part in controlling their own diabetes. Your arrival here tells us you're not among them :D

:D Thanks geoff, after a very unsuccesful 3 years of yo yo dieting and trying slimming clubs trying without success to get my cholestorol and weight down i have been diagnosed a week , in that week i have joined this site spent every night reading the forums and took in a wealth of information and changed my diet dramaticly i have now lost 5LBS incredibly fast i cant quite believe it but the scales tell me i have  i know this is working so im going for it big time thanks again great sight great people

Low carbs have to be replaced with something, protein can be converted into glucose so high fat is much better. Added to that, research is now beginning to show, a high fat diet doesn't cause high cholesterol. My own evidence proves it too. I LCHF have lost over 90lbs since March and my plasma cholesterol is now 3.4 well below what is considered safe levels. Enjoy your cream, cheese and full fat yogurts, I do. :D
