Hi,

I currently follow a LCHF diet which is working for me so far, however, there are times when I crave a bit of a crunch or something sweet and just wondered if there were any products out there that people swear by just to feel like they are getting a bit of a 'naughty fix'.

I know they say it never does anyone any harm but I find I have a bit of a guilty moment if I stray.

just thought i'd throw my question out there :)

A couple of Ryvita with philly and smoked salmon. There are one or two low carb cheesecakes out there too, which gives the sweet hit.

Oh dear I do have cravings, sad really.................. sometimes I just have to have a biscuit........... naughty........., but there are times when the body just craves for something nice..................... then I drink lots of water seems to be ok. does not happen too often.
Wish you luck we all seem to have the odd time when you need to know that you are normal.

Before I was diagnosed, I ate healthily but high carb. I was always hungry and the more I had the more I wanted, I am sure you all know the feeling!!

Since being diagnosed I have gone low carb. I am also trying to lose weight so have cut my calorie intake from 2500 to 1250.

I am amazed that I never feel hungry and I certainly don't get any cravings.

I now and again give into them, but usually when i've been around those who can eat 'normal'.
it takes very little to satisfy it though which is great as usually i would binge and have no idea where to stop. I also find that my body just doesnt feel good when I eat something quite carby.

just wanted to see if there were any cheat like substitutes that anyone would recommend for those days when you just need a pick-me-up.

Search for the Chocolate Paradise thread. Theres a recipe on there for Rocky road, I love that, choc and crunch, perfect for those cravings. Or try sugar free jelly with double cream for a sweet fix. Also on that thread I make the almost bounty bars, again perfect, feels naughty but they're not really!

Search for brie puffs, lovely crunchy carb free or try Awfully Posh the only carb free pork cracklings

Have a look at the low carb recipe forum, some lovely ideas on there. Including cakes and cookies made with coconut flour or almond flour, including crackers.

Kale can be used to make crisp substitute - I wasnt successful when I tried it (M&S sell bags of kale 'crisp' but bit pricey)

I make a yummy chocolate mousse, with avocado, full fat yogurt or cream and dark cocoa powder, just blitz it up and enjoy - low carb but not low calorie - it doesnt taste of avocado.

If you have good self control Tesco do a 80% dark swiss chocolate with less than 19% carbs (works out less than 5g for two large pieces) Its nice on its own or melted and made into a berry bar (add berries and set) or with nuts and seeds to give a nice crunch feel.

Keeping on the low carb/high fat theme, Tesco do a Wensleydale cheese with ginger and mango. Quite sweet and I eat as a snack or lunch with apple and toasted almonds. Haven't found any similar cheese anywhere else.
