Low Carbs and Fibre

With regard to fibre, see this blog by Micheal Eades - bear with it, it is about fibre!

The Inuit eat virtually no fibre at all yet do they suffer with constipation? If they did, I'm sure we would know about it!

Um.......who says we need fibre for regularity? The Grain industry?

I am very gluten intolerant so I can't have wheat, barley or rye, so they are out. My body also can't digest most other grain or starchy carbs properly, so fibre from that source is out. Carbs also push up my blood sugar - well, well.

What I can eat is fruit and vegetables - hey ho, they contain lots of fibre. Whilst I cannot cope with the Polysaccharides in starchy vegetables and grains, or the disaccharides in sugar and dairy, both of which a damaged digestive system cannot digest properly (and what do Diabetics have if not a damaged digestive system?), therefore providing lots of scrummy yums for pathogenic bacteria and yeasts in the gut which just luuurve undigested carbs, I can cope with the monosaccharides in fruit and vegetables (which can be directly utilised by the body).

Yes, I am low-carb, but they are good, healthy carbs.

Oh, and by the way, not only have I not had any insulin for two weeks, I have also been able to drop the Metformin. My blood sugar an hour before bed was 6.2. I'm more than happy with that at this stage.

PS. Shhh, don't tell anyone, but there is a substantial proportion of the World's population who naturally eat low-carb - all their lives - just as their parents did - and their parents - and generations before them..........and not only do they not become Diabetic, they don't suffer much else in the way of health issues either - especially our high-carb, high-sugar Western Diet driven ones.

This may be controversial, but I believe that most, if not all of our modern 'Western' illnesses and diseases are caused by the same thing. That high-carbohydrate diet. The only thing that separates them is that the 'Western' disease is segregated by symptoms and those groups who present with similar symptoms are given their own 'Label'.
