Low fat versus full fat

Is low fat better for you than full fat due to the sugar content, as I'm worried that I'll put on weight if I start eating full fat again.

Full fat is better for someone who has high blood sugars.
It has less carbs and sugars. Full fat is healthier for you.
But as always you can have too much!

The reason low fat is not healthy for diabetics is because the fats are replaced by different industrial sugars for taste. So will affect your blood glucose levels.

Take cream for instance, well let's start with milk, there is more lactose (sugar) in skimmed and less in full fat milk. Single cream has around 2.6g per 100ml and double around 1.6g per 100ml, so it's a dollop if double cream in my coffee first thing every morning:)

Full fat also has a much higher satiety quotient so you feel fuller for much longer and don't get as hungry.
 
Full fat every time! I've greatly reduced my glucose levels and lost a fair bit of weight on my LCHF diet. In fact I've eaten a highish fat diet most of my life, and the only low fat I was ever willing to consume was skimmed milk.

High carb diets are more likely cause weight gain than High fat ones, but if you eat both high carbs and high fat foods then that is going to be a pretty lethal combination, and I think, in retrospect, this may have been part of the reason why I eventually started to put on weight.

Agreed but remember that not all fats (same for calories) are equal. Avoid trans fats and high Omega 6 fats (most vegetable oils). Use olive or coconut oil for cooking and dressings.

It's excess carbs that make you fat, and carbs that raise blood sugar levels. Avoid the carbs and fill up with good fats, real fats not plastic alternatives. You don't have to go overboard if you don't want to, just throw out any low fat/light products you have and buy the real thing. You only have to read the food labels to see the low fat stuff is full of plastic chemicals. Good natural fats are good for us in so many ways.
