Does anyone know of any vitamins I could take to try and boost my immune system. It's unbelievable how poorly I get from simple colds. Soon as anything comes I go down so poorly, the hospital are a bit useless too!

When you get a cold, try taking two echinacia tablets three times a day. That should clear it up quickly.
 
Zinc? It seems to be common with zinc deficiency in diabetes, and one sign is low immune system. Poor wound healing and lethargy are other signs.
 
Garlic also helps I use the liquid echinachea from A Vogel

I take Zinc, vitamin B complex and possibly potassium and magnesium. Depends if you have a deficiency or not, have you had an electrolyte test?
