Hello. I just tested my sugar and it was fine and thirty minutes later I tested it again and it was so low that the machine couldn't even read it! This happened to me yesterday too. I'm 8 weeks pregnant and am wondering if this is common to have sugars SO low out of nowhere. I never went this low with my first pregnancy. It's scary. Thank you!!

Yes - it's very common. The pregnancy hypos are not,like normal,hypos. You can drop fast and in circumstances when you wouldn't normally drop. It can also take far more glucose and food to get you up.
Have you looked at your basal and ratios to see if a reduction would be appropriate?
Keep Lucozade everywhere, including by your bed and test lots, including during the night. My hypos started around 8'weeks too, and had reduced by 16 or so weeks then the insulin resistance started after a short while of more usual sugars. You may find you need carb snacks (without a bolus) between meals too, so keep plenty of suitable foods in.

Thank you both so much. I'm glad it isn't me doing anything wrong. I lowered my basal rate right after this second low! I hope it helps. My diabetes team doesn't seem concerned and only meets with me once a month in the third trimester.

I must admit -- I would push for more frequent appointments -- it is your body and your baby after all-- D is not allways easy at the best of times -- your well being is as important as the development of your baby ( interlinked In my opinion )

I was exactly the same during the first trimester. My lows happened frequently and so quick that most times I didn't really have time to prevent them so I had dextrose and Lucozade spread out in the whole house.
I did see my diabetes team every two weeks from start of pregnancy and more often towards the end, They should really see you regularly and not just once a month every trimester, I find that slightly odd. I'd push for more appointments too. Good luck!
