Hi
T2's are always told they cant have hypos as such, but of course non diabetics have hypos so that is ridiculous. However, its whether they are dangerous are not and in T2's and non diabetics its more likely your body can compensate (liver dumps stores of glucose into your bloodstream to keep you safe ) so you wont need to worry about diabetic coma's or other such delights of T1/insulin dependents.
The phrase is usually, as far as hypos go for me, 4 is the floor. However, I wouldnt always treat a 4 depending on whats caused it, how much insulin I have left in my bloodstream etc etc. If you feel awful with it (as you describe, and it is a horrible feeling) then by all means have something to eat but I dont know if you would necessary need a mince pie and a scone. That would have me on a drip!
All kidding aside, a smaller snack will keep you ok - but it sounds like perhaps you might need to consider whether you are taking too much Met given you had that, only went up to 7ish. Still, waking to 5.3 is fab
The other thing is that it may be related to illness - its more likely to raise bg but Ive had quite a heavy cold before and it lowered mines a bit too
