That is very similar to the list they have posted out to me but I have read that some do low residue/low fibre for 5/7 days before the procedure - did you just do it for the 2 days before or did you do 5 or 7 - can you remember? The link below is similar to the diet sheet I was given before my colonoscopies. I stuck to what was only on the list & didn’t deviate, To be honest it’s 2 days I tried to stay as low carb as I could but did eat a few more carbs in those 2 days. A couple of days off a low carb plan isn’t going to make much difference
Colonoscopy diet advice and bowel preparation - 2 days before your colonoscopy
Instructions for preparing for your colonoscopy, including bowel preparation, diet and medicines from 4 days before your appointment.www.guysandstthomas.nhs.uk
They also told me no red jelly or juices & cordials
Good tip - thanks - all are appreciated xMeant to say, if your having sedation then a good tip is to take some of your own food for after as they like you to eat before you leave & it’s usually toast & butter & jam. I took a low carb chicken sandwich but remember to keep it light & plain until you’re back home.
Cheese & crackers - any more snacks you can think of? xAs far as I can recall I mainly fasted, and there were enough low carb things on the list to provide snacks.
As I eat mainly low carb I am used to living on body fat so a couple of days of minimal food didn't cause me much hardship.
I was on a very low fibre diet for 8 weeks prior to my first colonoscopy as I was quite poorly with my bowels so there wasn’t much of a transition for me, I was on very similar to the link below. I just printed it and crossed out anything that wasn’t low carb. That is very similar to the list they have posted out to me but I have read that some do low residue/low fibre for 5/7 days before the procedure - did you just do it for the 2 days before or did you do 5 or 7 - can you remember?
Also, do you have any ideas what I could add to the fish or chicken? as unfortunately I don't like chicken or fish just on its own - I usually have it in a sauce or dip it in to something such as mayo for the chicken x
If mayo is in your list then you can eat it. I personally would avoid anything that isn’t on your own personal list. That is very similar to the list they have posted out to me but I have read that some do low residue/low fibre for 5/7 days before the procedure - did you just do it for the 2 days before or did you do 5 or 7 - can you remember?

Great! - I think I will use this list from 7 days before - thanks againI was on a very low fibre diet for 8 weeks prior to my first colonoscopy as I was quite poorly with my bowels so there wasn’t much of a transition for me, I was on very similar to the link below. Butter, cream and cheese is on the list, those things can make any boring protein interesting! Also, do you have any ideas what I could add to the fish or chicken? as unfortunately I don't like chicken or fish just on its own - I usually have it in a sauce or dip it in to something such as mayo for the chicken x
Mayo is not on my list (so I suppose I better not have it (sad face)- I just never have chicken with no gravy or nothing. I think for the fish I might just drizzle a butter and squeezed lemon over it - or I am even thinking I could get cod or haddock from the chippie and remove all the batter from it (I may have this a week before and then the 2/3 days before I will be mega strictIf mayo is in your list then you can eat it. I discovered that each health authority all have slight variations so it’s best to stick to what you’ve been told by your particular team, especially for the two days before, which is the important part as you can, unless you’ve been told differently by your team, eat as normal prior to that.
Yes, I have thought about making a cheese sauce but not sure it goes with chicken but it may be better than nothing xButter, cream and cheese is on the list, those things can make any boring protein interesting!
Everything goes with cheese sauce, trust me!Yes, I have thought about making a cheese sauce but not sure it goes with chicken but it may be better than nothing x
