So, I am trying to put a shopping list together for this - I will probably eat more fish & chicken in the days before - only problem is I don't like plain foods - I don't think I could eat just plain white fish (so I might do it in a butter and squeezed lemon juice - any one any better suggestions and also again I don't like just plain chicken does any one have any suggestions or ideas for a sauce or dip that I might have with that?

eggs are easy for me
crackers & cheese are ok
tuna & possibly very small baked potato minus the skin
the odd slice of white bread/toast and cheese won't do me too much harm just same as a ripe banana

Anyone have any suggestions/ideas on what they did for this also low carb ideas would be welcomed - thanks for taking the time to read, much appreciated as always x

The link below is similar to the diet sheet I was given before my colonoscopies. I stuck to what was only on the list & didn’t deviate, To be honest it’s 2 days I tried to stay as low carb as I could but did eat a few more carbs in those 2 days. A couple of days off a low carb plan isn’t going to make much difference

They also told me no red jelly or juices & cordials

Meant to say, if your having sedation then a good tip is to take some of your own food for after as they like you to eat before you leave & it’s usually toast & butter & jam. I took a low carb chicken sandwich but remember to keep it light & plain until you’re back home.

As far as I can recall I mainly fasted, and there were enough low carb things on the list to provide snacks.
As I eat mainly low carb I am used to living on body fat so a couple of days of minimal food didn't cause me much hardship.

That is very similar to the list they have posted out to me but I have read that some do low residue/low fibre for 5/7 days before the procedure - did you just do it for the 2 days before or did you do 5 or 7 - can you remember?

Also, do you have any ideas what I could add to the fish or chicken? as unfortunately I don't like chicken or fish just on its own - I usually have it in a sauce or dip it in to something such as mayo for the chicken x

Cheese & crackers - any more snacks you can think of? x

I was on a very low fibre diet for 8 weeks prior to my first colonoscopy as I was quite poorly with my bowels so there wasn’t much of a transition for me, I was on very similar to the link below. I just printed it and crossed out anything that wasn’t low carb.

If mayo is in your list then you can eat it. I personally would avoid anything that isn’t on your own personal list.

I discovered that each health authority all have slight variations so it’s best to stick to what you’ve been told by your particular team, especially for the two days before, which is the important part as you can, unless you’ve been told differently by your team, eat as normal prior to that.

Butter, cream and cheese is on the list, those things can make any boring protein interesting!

Mayo is not on my list (so I suppose I better not have it (sad face)- I just never have chicken with no gravy or nothing. I think for the fish I might just drizzle a butter and squeezed lemon over it - or I am even thinking I could get cod or haddock from the chippie and remove all the batter from it (I may have this a week before and then the 2/3 days before I will be mega strict

I feel you are overthinking the sauces/spices. They should only be used in relatively small quantities - so hardly any carbs or residue. I always fasted for the last 36 hrs because I found it easy to do.

The earlier part was a little harder, but a bit of gravy, or soy sauce or chilli sauce (or even cheese sauce) with some fish or chicken (just to give it a bit of flavour) isn't enough to cause either a bid BG reaction or a noticeable residue in the colon.

Like I said earlier, my system is slow, so I started the whole process before schedule and had no problems with the food part as you will understand once you get to the purging starting to work.
You can drink non milky clear liquids - so I drank Marmite in hot water, or pain (green or black tea bag) in hot water. But then that's the way I normally drink tea!
