low sugar fruit

Raspberries, Blackberries, Cranberries, and the most awful fruit I have ever tasted Rhubarb seem to be lowest in sugar...... mind you remember fruits differ by having Fructose which can and is processed differently.

For the best advice you should really ask to speak to a dietician - they are they guys that will know.
 
I'm OK with berries - blueberries, blackberries, raspberries. And apples are supposed to be good for diabetics apparently. Bananas and melons put my bg up really high.
 
If you go for dried fruits, such as the ones found in cereals for example, these will tend to be higher in sugar, as are practically all of whitworths packet dried fruits such ad cranberries.

Anything small is usually lower in carbs (apart from grapes) All berries and apples are ok for me (cheeries in moderation). Generally fruits are treats for me and eat just a little bit
 
I eat all sorts of fruits but in varying portion sizes, the only way to know what you can safely eat is to eat it and test it and find out the portions of particular fruits that are OK for you
 
This proves that we really are all different, the only way to find out how fruit is affecting you is by testing your bg levels.

I am fine with berries, rhubarb, satsuma, pineapple, grapefruit, nectarine and peach, but apples, even tart ones, melon, plum and grapes give me too much of a spike.
Fruit is a treat for me, I have it with cream.

Rhubarb is lovely stewed with sweetener and cinnamon or ginger added, then stirred into cream or yoghurt.
 
Re the last post - unfortunately kiwis are one of the highest carb fruits!

A good tip is:
Lowest - any of the berries (cranberries only if they haven't been soaked in sugar)
Lext lowest - summer fruits - peaches, nectarines, plums, apricots
Next - winter fruits - apples, pears, citrus fruits
Quite high - tropical fruits - bananas, pineapple, pomegranate, mangoes, fresh figs, kiwis
Very high - tangerines, grapes, cherries
Highest - all dried fruits - currants, raisins, sultanas, dates, dried apricots, prunes, figs

I believe that kiwi fruits contain a chemical that some people are allergic to - if they affect you then you might also have a reaction to papayas and pineapples as they contain the same allergen (actinidain).

Bizarrely i love pineapple and have no problems, seem to recall papaya may have done this too though.

Fruits which are often called "vegetables" such a peppers, cucumbers, courgettes, etc. tend to be low in sugar.
Tomatos are a berry.
Rhubarb cannot possibly be called a "fruit". It's a leaf stem.
In truth the only way to find out what's right for you appears to be "eat to your meter".
