Hi, not only do I have type 2 but I have no gall bladder and need to follow a low fat diet, just lately any food seems to upset my stomach making the need for urgent and frequent visits to the toilet. I am on slow release Metformin, Gliclazide, Atorvastatin and Omeprazole for stomach acid. If anyone has a similar experience and could offer tips of food to eat and not feel hungry I would be most grateful.

thank you

I fully understand where you are coming from , I also have no gallbladder and have serous stomach acid and other problems ...
I don't have an answer for you , I have followed my own diet over the past 18 months ...low fat ..where possible for me .but can use olive oil and eat avocados ...
Cream well that is a big problem ...
Sugar I use a substitute ...
I follow a medium low carb diet ....high fat is not for me ....my body won't allow it ....
It is so important to keep the acid down but very hard...the attacks are really hard to manage at times....bile salts never worked ....
One drug which did help has just been withdrawn , not a good replacement found ..
You can choke on acid Sylvia ...so you do have to try to keep levels down ...
Saying this ...by doing my own tweaking I have lost 3 stones ...and maintained it all for nearly a year.....
I would like to loose a little more , but my weight has just stayed the say at the moment even though I have increased my exercise ...
Will have to have a little think ....
I wish you lots of luck ...with your diet , I can only share my experiences ....

Thank you. I have done my own thing over the years all being good but lately nothing seems to work. I will try upping the carbs slightly, more exercise and see what happens.

I did loose weight in the beginning and stayed stable then I had treatment for breast cancer so everything went to pot. The acid is worse some times lasting weeks, no matter what I eat its hard to get it back under control. I have just had tests at the hospital waiting for the results and the next step. I just keep saying "my body IS a temple" ha ha I wish. Just looked for the peanut butter but could not see it, do you eat it on Ryvitta, I usually have porridge with cinnamon?

Hi jean,
Sorry I mislead you , the article was on my diabetics Facebook page ....often the same articles are on here to .
The peanut butter one just grabbed my attention , for some reason breakfast is the best time for me to,digest food , I am able to,eat my breakfast , I am going to get the no added sugar one ...and have a slice for breakfast ....or maybe it could be a mid morning snack .....you are making me think now...

At the moment I have alpen no sugar with almond milk or porridge oats with almond milk ...and a few blueberries ...
If I struggle with eating at lunch and supper at least I know I have managed one meal ....the acid gets worse as the day goes one , with reflux as well.
Then I just can't eat ....nights are just awful ...nice on the good days though ...but bad on the days it is bad ..

I will be getting a good seeded type bread ....I may consider a slice for lunch ...perhaps I need a few carbs to increase engery for more exercise to loose that bit of weight ....the body is so strange ...when I was loosing weight , a toasted tea cake helped not everyday of course ...but I seem to have reached a stage where I am stuck at the moment ....will keep trying though ...think I will go back on soya yogurts though ....

Yes I have cinnamon....love it on oats ....in winter more ....
Sorry about your breast cancer , hope you are getting better, there is so often a illness behind this illness ...
Hope you get some help with your test results ....keep,in touch and let me know ...chat anytime ....best wishes ...Kat

HI. Occasionally people have problems even with the SR version of Metformin. The other 3 drugs you have seldom cause bowel upset? It may be worth stopping the Met for a while to see what happens. It only has small effect on blood sugar anyway so not that vital if you have problems with it

I have no gall bladder either, I am on Tecta for the acid, I eat lower carb, but not too low, I buy breads that have about 4 or 5 fiber per slice so the net carb is about 14-17 depending on the brands; I can't eat too much high fat either, so I choose either cheese or p.butter to put on my toast, for breakfast or as an afternoon snack; I don't like to eat too many eggs so I use egg whites a lot, sometimes I enjoy an egg on my toast; I eat good veggies, and love celery as long as the celery is light colored as the dark celery is too bitter, so always look for the lightest celery and make sure it isn't dry though.
