Low sugars and alcohol

Hi! I'm a fairly newly diagnosed type 2 on diet only. I take sugar readings after meals to see what's good and what's not (for me!) and I've found that I CONSISTENTLy get much better (lower) readings 2 hours after a meal when I've had a few glasses of wine before the meal. Is this the elixir to success? My theory is that the liver prioritises and gets rid of the alcohol toxins before dumping sugar. So shouldn't we simply drink more? Where's the flaw? Your advice would be appreciated.

Thanks! Humour is another key I think! According to the answers I get, I'm gonna become a diabetic-cured alcoholic.

Red wine lowers your levels but I don't know why  BTW so does whisky

See! Red wine is gooood!! It's my theory I think - the liver can't dump sugar because alcohol is a toxin and it has to clear that first. I hope!

Not all alcohol has this effect unfortunately so perhaps your theory needs a little refining. :)

i'm with Daisy on this one    whisky    works for me .

if you want a good low carb lager try coors light its low carb and this works quicker than whisky to lower sugars for me for some reason
